Daniel stops by Nicole's office. He has to break the news to her that Serena is dead. Nicole feels somehow responsible. Daniel questions her why, when her boss walks in and assigns her to interview her ex boyfriend Eric. Nicole refuses and her boss, Miles gets miffed. Daniel intervenes and Miles tells him it doesn't concern him. Daniel defends Nicole, but Miles tells Nicole she is fired if she doesn't do the story. Nicole tells him she can't be fired, because she quits.
Daniel asks Nicole if she is going to miss her reporter job. Nicole has bigger plans. She learned Basic Black is for sale. She wants to run it. Daniel wonders if Nicole has the funds to buy the company. Nicole says she will figure it out.
Later, at the pub, Nicole tells Daniel she thinks she will need to find an investor to help her get Basic Black.
