At the hospital, Nicole overhears Daniel on the phone leaving Jennifer a message. She hears him tell Jennifer that he will always care about her. Nicole enters the office and tells Daniel she cannot go through with Jennifer getting back into Daniel's life. Daniel explains that his business with Jennifer has nothing to do with him and Nicole. Nicole is relieved. She offers to cook dinner for Daniel and Melanie. Daniel agrees and gives her his key.
Jennifer is trying to avoid Daniel, but he finds her and rushers off to finish their discussion about JJ. He confronts her and wants to know the truth. Jennifer gives Daniel a brief excuse as to why JJ broke up with Roxanne so fast. Daniel doesn't buy it and tells her so. Daniel gets called away. Jennifer leaves, deciding Daniel can never know JJ's secret.
Later, Daniel finds Melanie in his office. Their lunch plans have changed. Melanie has to work, but Daniel can still have lunch with Nicole at his apartment.
