Daniel walks in on Nicole and Melanie having words. He learns of Nicole's sneaky visit to Serena's hotel room. He blasts her for snooping and confronts her with the fact that she is not over Eric. Nicole tries to talk her way out of the uncomfortable situation, but Daniel does not let her. She reminds him of their New Year's Eve Gala. Daniel is furious. He opens the door and tells Nicole goodnight. Nicole continues to try to convince Daniel. Daniel is upset that Nicole lied to him yet again. He calls Maxine and tells her that his New Year's plans have been cancelled and he will work. Daniel storms out and tells Nicole to lock the door before she leaves. He also sarcastically adds she can snoop around all she wants, but she will not find anything about Eric for her professional curiosity to find. Daniel leaves, slamming the door. Nicole starts to cry.
Melanie spots Daniel on the way to the hospital. She wants to know what happened with him and Nicole. He tells her they will talk later and leaves for the hospital. Back at Daniel's apartment, Nicole daydreams of how she thought a romantic New Year's Eve with Daniel should have gone. She rips up the Gala tickets.
At the hospital, Daniel is in a bad mood and snipes at Maxine. Later, Daniel apologizes to Maxine and they share a glass of sparkling cider together to ring in the new year.
