At the hospital, Daniel runs into Kayla. He tells her how sorry he is for her loss. Kayla appreciates his concern. Daniel asks about her mom. She tells him as a colleague and a friend about her mother's experimental treatment. She also lets Daniel know that there will be no notations about the medicine on Caroline's chart. Daniel only wants to know if it is helping Caroline. Kayla believes it is. Kayla is overwhelmed by the losses in her family. Daniel hugs Kayla. He offers to take over for her so she can be with her family. Kayla says she wants to be near her mom. If she goes home she would probably annoy Joe and fight with Steve.
